Bonjour!

Hello, hello, hello! I have had a crazy week but I have some news... I found a new job! I haven't had the best time working for the company I was currently with and I'm so happy to have found an awesome new job. Woo!

My cousin Clare was in town for an engineering course, so I met up with her, my mum, my sister and my grandma for brunch in Subiaco. I wish I could remember the name of the cafe we went to, everything was so delicious! I had haloumi and zucchini fritters. I mean.

I didn't have my usual camera so my sister snapped these for me on my iPhone! I was secretly pretty impressed...

ASOS jumper & bag // Dotti skirt // Black tights // Temt flats // Valleygirl earrings

I loved this jumper as soon as I saw it, luckily I had some of a Christmas gift voucher left so I was able to snap it up before it sold out! I bought the shoes a while ago for $10 but this is the first time I've worn them out, and they're surprisingly really comfortable. I've wanted a pair of leopard print loafers for ages, since last winter probably, so I was happy to be able to test out the trend for such a tiny price (spoiler: I am a fan).

I felt a bit schoolgirlish in this outfit, what with the jumper, the skirt and the loafers... very Madeline-inspired perhaps?

Afterwards we went into Jackson's so my grandma could get some fabric pencils. I'm not art-inclined in the least, but I had fun taking photos of all the pretty stuff.

Well, that's it from this morning... I also went to a car show at Devilles and got to review a new dress, so look out for photos of that in the next couple of days!

Now I'm off to have some cookies'n'cream icecream and catch up on Community. Fun times!

Sunday Best

Hello all! I'm starting a new feature on Sundays, a little round-up of my favourite finds from the internet over the week. Everything from cute dresses, to blog posts from my favourite bloggers, to delicious recipes, to cat videos (well, maybe not that often for that one) - it'll all be here and hopefully you can enjoy it too!

I loved Hayley's post about dressing a doll for an exhibition called POUT, currently on display at Chadstone as part of the LMFF Cultural Program. Isn't the doll super cute? I can't believe the detail that went into it!

This is quite an old post that I found via Skunkboy Creatures (one of my new favourite blogs!), but I thought it was lovely all the same. A DIY for these gorgeous feather lanterns, from Violet Bella.

I love this Fairground dress from ASOS. I also happen to know that you can get an extra 20% off ASOS purchases with the code STPATRICK... but this code runs out tomorrow morning so get in quick!

I'm really excited to see the rest of Elsie's new clothing line! She's just started releasing pictures of some of the dresses, and my favourite so far is the Ice Cream Sundae romper. You can also get a sneak peek at how to style the Weekender dress and the Bike Ride dress

Speaking of A Beautiful Mess, they have a post up about lots of different pizza toppings to try! I'm particularly keen to try the raspberry jam, brie and pesto, the BBQ bacon and avocado, and the pineapple and pesto. Yum!

I really liked Elizabeth from Delightfully Tacky's interview about lessons learned from blogging, from the Texas Style Council seminar. She's also offering 25% off her INDIE blogger e-course - click on the link for more info!

I still haven't decided what to do with my hair - and yes, it's still a big issue, haha - but I am leaning very heavily towards a look like this, snapped by the very fabulous Gem Fatale at London Fashion Week.

I may have made a sneaky purchase last week from one of my favourite online vintage stores, Old Age Vintage. I can't wait to style it up with some coloured tights and ankle boots when it gets a bit cooler!

Well, that's it for this week! I hope you enjoyed the first instalment!

Sportswear, Or Wearing Sports

This is probably the closest I'll ever get to ACTUAL sportswear - well, outside of leggings and an old t-shirt, anyway! I found this skirt in a Vinnies 'Retro' store late last year but haven't had the chance to wear it properly yet, as it was a size 16 and kept falling off! Finally I got round to taking it in and now I think it will be a very valuable piece in my wardrobe. I mean, how many skirts do you find that have photos of people playing golf, riding motorbikes and cycling (not sure why these are the only three sports featured on there...)?

I just noticed after I took these photos that there IS sailing on here, too.

It's still ridiculously hot here (it was 41ºC yesterday, and it's 36 today!), so I just paired it with some very simple basics. I'm really hoping this is the last of the big heatwaves before winter... not least because I have some very cute winter clothes on the way to me at the moment.

Thrifted skirt // Portmans black tee // Black flats // Sportsgirl earrings & bag // OPI nail polish in The One That Got Away, from the Katy Perry collection (!)

I'm really sick of having shorter hair, so today I braided it and pinned it up to get it out of the way and off my sweaty neck. I actually quite like it! It's inspired me to do a few more creative hairstyles while I decide what to do with it.

I've also become quite enamoured with red lipstick - I'm just wearing a lip stain in these photos but I bought some lipstick to wear on Saturday night and I loved it! Although after quite a few gin & tonics and white wine sangrias, it probably didn't look as classy as I hoped...

p.s I almost forgot another incident from today, I nearly got mugged on the escalator! Luckily I'd just been grocery shopping so I had my wallet in my hand, but I turned around and saw another lady's hand in my bag... eep! That will teach me to use bags with no zipper and a very loose clasp!

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

My hair is in a bit of a state at the moment. I had it cut a lot shorter than I wanted it, and have been trying to figure out what to do with it next. I'm torn between dying it a pretty, candy colour or going back to black with a Bettie Page fringe again.

Anyway, the point of all that is that I was looking at my PhotoBooth pictures and it showed a pretty good timeline of all the hair changes I've had in the last couple of years! What do you think?

At the moment, it's quite a nice shade of cherry red, which lends itself nicely to pairing with red lips, winged eyeliner and a general '20s vibe. I did try and take some pictures, but they were way too Myspace-y (even though, looking at these photos, my Myspace tolerance is quite high!).

I really am leaning towards colour again - I forgot how much I loved the blue ends! What do you think?

{In case you're interested, all of the haircuts except the second last picture are by the wonderful & charming Bee at Peggy Sues, and the second last picture is from when I reviewed Aveda Salon in Subiaco}

Little Things 01.03.12

After the glamour of my last Oscar dresses post, I thought I would bring things a little more down to earth by showing you some far-less-glamourous photos of my day-to-day life. I got a new iPhone last week, so I have been much more diligent about whipping it out and snapping photos at every opportunity!

Anyway, here's what I've been up to when I'm not busily working away in my little home office (which unfortunately resides in a corner of the room we call "the man cave". It's a little pink, girlie oasis in an otherwise very messy room...).

Last night my boyfriend and I headed out with some friends to the Festival Gardens, which are on as part of the Arts Festival here in Perth. It's a very lovely set-up, with fake grass and tonnes of old wooden chairs lying around, as well as some pretty excellent drinks (see my delicious gin and tonic above) and scrumptious food! Last night they had some Latin music playing and lots of couples were tango-ing and rumba-ing away. I was in awe. Unfortunately my new Wittner shoes gave me ridiculous blisters and I required a piggyback home from my dashing gentleman.

My mum came up to see me on Pancake Tuesday, so we - rather predictably - went to the Pankcake House to grab some breakfast. I've only been there two or three times but I always get the strawberry concoction. Mmm.

We also went to an 'old people' themed party. Aidan looked quite convincing (his inspiration was Junior from The Sopranos and I was his unofficial goomah) but I don't think I really pulled off my 'glamour nanna' look! Although in this photo you do get a sneak peek of my awesome lobster purse that my sister got me for Christmas, and of my Mary-Kate inspired glasses from GirlProps!

This is my first photo from Fat Mum Slim's Photo A Day challenge. The first theme was 'up' and this is the bunting (from Typo) that hangs above my bed. Hopefully I can keep up this challenge longer than my previous effort (two days!...).

And these photos are RIDICULOUSLY overdue... in January I went down to Margaret River with Aidan, his sister, and some other friends. It was really fun, incredibly relaxing and SO NICE to escape the ridiculous Perth heat that was going on.

Okay! I think I'm all caught up. Now I'm going to collapse in front of the TV with Neighbours (always good guilty pleasure viewing) and some pizza.
