Meow Girl

I first saw the Meow Girl collection at the launch of Pigeonhole's pop up store, and I walked out that night with the adorable pug necklace. Since I've been working there, I've added the dachshund and the teeny kitten to my collection. They're all so gorgeously detailed - the little pug even has his tongue poking out and wrinkles on his head! 

They're a little bit more expensive than what I would usually pay for jewellery - around $45-$55 a necklace - but I'm trying to buy fewer high quality pieces rather than a bunch of cheap stuff from Diva. I don't think three really counts as 'fewer', though...


I couldn't resist the kitten pendant because my nan owned a cat figurine almost exactly like it! It was my favourite when I was little. I'm so lucky that I was able to keep that collection of feline figurines.

I know I did a post on glasses not long ago, but I couldn't resist showing you this beautiful Etsy store. It features a huge array of vintage frames and I can't believe how exquisitely detailed they are! They remind me of something a sassy secretary would wear in the '60s.

SWOON. They're a little bit on the expensive side - probably up to about $130 a pair - but I guess that's around what I would pay for a new pair. That last Miu Miu-esque glittery pair is very tempting... but I also love the second last pair. The only thing I'd be worried about is buying glasses without being totally sure they'd suit me, but somehow I don't think that would be a problem with these beauties. To be honest I haven't been buying or really wearing that much vintage lately, and I think these would be an awesome kick-start into making the effort to wear more.

I haven't done a review for so long, so I was pretty thrilled when Firmoo contacted me to try out their fancy frames. I do actually have a prescription for reading glasses, and since my Oliver Peoples frames were stolen I was in need of some new specs! Here's my experience with Firmoo...

The glasses themselves are quite a basic shape. I love the wayfarer style so I thought I would just stick with what I know; buying glasses online is totally new territory for me. But, Firmoo have an excellent offer where the first pair of glasses is free for new customers - you just have to pay for shipping. So, even if you're not 100% sure on which style you like, it could be a good way to try out a shape that you're not familiar with.

The glasses themselves (I cannot for the life of me find them on the site! Here's some similar ones) are pretty cute. They look quite a bit more speckled than they do in the picture, but to be honest the quality is better than I expected for such a low price point. I've been wearing them since I got them (as you can see in quite a few of my Restyle posts) and they're comfortable and light enough to wear all day. I don't use glasses all day every day, but so far this pair hasn't dug into my skin or been uncomfortable.

I'd definitely recommend trying out their rather excellent first-customer offer - new customers get their first pair of glasses for free, and only pay for shipping, and they really do have a great range of glasses. Since I just wear glasses when I'm on the computer or reading, I'm not sure how these would stand up being worn all day every day, but in my experience they're comfortable and look very cute on. And the shipping was incredible - I think they arrived in less than a week, which I was very impressed with. All in all they were a pleasure to review! I think I might be tempted to order some more soon...

Made On The Left

Hello again! So like I said in yesterday's post, I popped down to the Made On The Left markets at the WA State Theatre on Sunday. I wasn't expecting it to be underground, but it was actually pretty rad (except for taking photos... argh, that lighting!). I only got to have a quick look around, which I guess is one of the perils of bringing your boyfriend shopping with you, but I was really impressed with all the awesome talent coming out of WA. I know that I'm probably a bit slow off the mark posting about this... but how awesome are these bags by Jump From Paper? They look like 2D cartoon drawings but are actually fully functional bags. They make my brain hurt if I look at them too long.




And my favourite... "First Date".

At the moment you can pre-order the bags from the website, and they'll be available from June 15. I am pretty crazy about them! I think they'd be the type of bag where you'd constantly get stopped and asked about it. I'm not going to pretend I totally understand them, but I know that I really, really, really want one.

Would you wear them? Do you think my love for them - and for 2D looking things in the "real world" - stems from my obsession with Who Framed Roger Rabbit when I was younger? O_O

I seem to have amassed quite the collection of brooches, even though I rarely wear them in outfit posts. They've been bought, gifted or handed down to me over the years and even though they don't get the attention (and wear) they deserve, I love them all dearly. It's funny how many memories and sentiments can get attached to inanimate objects, isn't it?







{The kangaroo trophy head brooch is from Pigeonhole; the mix tape brooch, "Hello, I like to skim stones and take long walks in the park" badge and the ampersand are all from the Unwrapped markets; the blue bird and the deer are both leather brooches by My Girl Gwendoline; the carrot is from Corky St Clair in Melbourne; the owl was a gift from my sister; the Vespa was a gift from my friend Cat; the gun is by OSIER; the Mexcellent badge is Limedrop from Pigeonhole, bought during a Mexican-themed production week at uni; and the "No Swimming - Crocodiles", beefeater, and American flag badges belonged to my grandparents.}

I thought I would share my latest op-shop finds with you. My boyfriend and I stopped at the huge Salvos store near his house a while ago and while the clothing selection was pretty disappointing - and WAY overpriced (what's up with that, Salvos?) - I did manage to pick up a few goodies.

{I scored this glomesh purse for $4.99. I think I was really lucky that the sticker fell off and the lady gave it to me for way less than what it's worth!}

{This dress needs a little bit of work - I think I'll replace the lining and take it up a bit - but it has a really beautiful, subtle print and is very Marilyn Monroe. It's a white wiggle dress with a pencil skirt and a bit of a risque split up the back - I'll be sure to take photos when it's all fixed up!}

{I bought these shoes on a different op-shopping trip, but I thought I'd share them anyway. They're so cute and I've wanted a navy pair of shoes for years!}


{And now the pièce de résistance - say hello to Elvis! He is quite happily hanging above my collection of teacups, looking quite pensive and dapper. He only cost $7.99, as well. I kept squealing with excitement the whole drive home!}

I also bought a suitcase, but I didn't bother to take a photo since, well, you all know what a suitcase looks like. I've made a little list of what I'm looking for in op-shops (otherwise I end up buying a whole lot of stuff I don't need, which inevitably gets donated back to the op-shop) and it includes more vintage suitcases for storage, sequinned tops, jackets with cropped sleeves, and of course dresses in crazy prints.

If there's one thing that can lift my spirits on a gross, grey afternoon, it's a new pair of shoes. Especially a pair of shiny silver brogues that only cost me twenty dollars.






Just quietly (I'm not meant to be spending much money!) I might have picked up some new skirts in the sales as well. I was pretty proud of my sale-shopping skills. They were ridiculously cheap and I intend to show them off as soon as possible!

The first outfit features the Moon Cocktail Ring by d_luxe and the Solis Ring Set by Estelle Deve. I kept the rest of the outfit pretty neutral to offset the gold - even the nail polish is neutral to offset how
beautiful the rings are! I am also a little bit in love with those flats.

I was going to put this Damselfly Bouquet Collar with a gorgeous, strapless black evening gown, but then I thought that might be a bit too... obvious. If you have a necklace as lovely as this, you want to be able to wear it in the day as well, right? So I put it with a sheer black maxi skirt (which I can NOT find in ANY stores in Perth, if you know where one is hiding, please let me know), a cream tee and some wedges to make it a bit more casual. I kept the accessories pretty basic too, to let the necklace be the standout piece - a tan belt and a black clutch are all the outfit needs.

This look features two pieces from the Drown collection, which is my favourite on Alegorie. I have a pair of earrings from the very first collection and I absolutely love them. I love that this current collection is delicate and tough at the same time, so I wanted to try and copy that in the outfit. I put the Detritus Stud Earrings and the Refuse Bangle with this floaty cocktail dress, then added some Litas (even though everyone is sick to death of seeing them all over blogs) and a badass Alexander McQueen clutch. And then some false eyelashes because I am currently obsessed with them, if only I could put them on without stuffing it up!
