What I Wore 18.9.08

Today is Boy & I's one year anniversary hooray! I got him a David Bowie t-shirt & a book called 'Rock Tease' which is about... Rock Tees (and has a well-endowed lass on the cover, which I think was part of the reason the gift was such a hit). He got me a box set of books called Great Loves (!!!) which has short stories by Nabokov, Chaucer, Thomas Hardy... and so many more! I can't wait to get my hands on it (the box set I mean :P).

So soon we are going to the Moon Cafe for dinner! Yum! (I forgot to resize the pictures but I am sure you will cope!)

What I Wore 15.9.08

What I Wore 15.9.08

I can't believe it's halfway through September already! At least now it is FINALLY beginning to feel like Spring! Today I went into uni for my media studies tutorial, in which all we seem to do is talk about political correctness, and then had some yum Pad Thai for lunch. Now I am studying for a sociology test and dancing to Rollover Beethoven by Chuck Berry!

Shirt: Target//Singlet: Cotton On//Shorts: French Kitty//Tights: ?//Shoes: Converse
I bought these shorts yesterday, I got a Myer voucher as a late birthday present from my aunt & uncle that live in Wagin (which is about four hours away from Perth. I think the main attraction of the town is a huge scultpure of a ram. Not a sheep, it is very clear it is a ram). My mum was visiting me for the weekend so we went and bought a few things - apart from these shorts I bought some housey things from Bed Bath & Table and a beater so I can finally make cakes & cupcakes and things! Mum also very nicely paid my EMBARASSINGLY EXTRAVAGANT late video fees... the store which I hire them from seems to be very keen to rip me off as much as possible :<

1. The closeup of the fabric on the shorts//2. My beloved Cons//3. The other goodies I picked up! A 'Love' sign (just because), a magazine holder in a very sweet print (and only $9! All other magazine holders I've seen are about $20 and not nearly as cute), and displayed on the cake platter that was a belated present from my godfather (& uncle) and his family!

(in case you were wondering, the reason I have a TV under my desk is because when I first moved in, my friend gave me his old TV to replace my teeny-tiny one [seriously, my laptop screen was almost as big as the TV!]. Anyway his ended up dying but apparently he is going to pick it up from my house sometime.)

I Want: Betsey Johnson

I Want: Betsey Johnson

Ohh, since when did Gin in a Teacup become such a whore for designer shows? I don't know. Maybe when designers stop putting out such delicious collections I can write about my Cotton On and Target clothes once again. But for now, the delightful 09 collection from one of my idols and my number one wish-I-could-afford-these-clothes-because-who-doesn't-want-to-flit-about-like-a-cupcake designer... Betsey Johnson!
I love the first dress, I am having a bit of a knee-socks moment. Also, are the girls in the first two pictures carrying little lunchboxes? I love it! I love the pants in the second picture, I think they match the big sleeves on the top very well. I am equally enamoured with the fact that every girl is wearing a coloured wig and bowler hat.
I love the tutu-like dress in the first picture, and I think the shoes are very interesting. I think the dress in the second picture is one of my favourites, I love the shape of it and the print on the fabric is so gorgeous. I know that the massive pockets that bulk out around the hips might not be very flattering on people like me who are not blessed with gazelle (or Giselle)-like legs, but I think it looks great anyway! The third dress is included because I think it looks like a mermaid meets a Monet painting.

And of course, the cart-wheeling, fabulous woman herself...

And if you needed any more proof that Betsey Johnson shows are particularly awesome...
...it featured a pirate.

What I Wore 12.9.08

What I Wore 12.9.08

Very boring day today I'm afraid, nothing interesting to report! I had a sociology tutorial (zzz) and had to hand in another article (ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ) and now I am off to the city to meet Boy and go back to his house to probably play Grand Theft Auto (...I'm not sure how I feel about that yet).
Anyway I feel unusually listless so I'm sorry for the lack of interesting poses/facial expressions!

Dress: vintage from Retrostar//Cardigan: Red Cherry//Tights: Equip//Shoes: I ♥ Billy//Scarf: Cotton On

I got the scarf free as a promotion at Cotton On when I worked there, I wish I had picked a more interesting colour than black! They have (or, at least they had) bright turquoise and purple and orange and pink. But I have worn this scarf about, oh, 39000 times since I bought it so I guess it's true that black is the most versatile non-colour and blah blah blaaaaaah.

I hope your day has been colour-filled and magical! Please tell me about it so I can live vicariously through the adventures of others!

I Want: Erin Fetherston

I Want: Erin Fetherston

These photos are from the Erin Fetherston show at New York Fashion Week this week. I loooove this collection, I don't normally do posts on one designer (although I have in the past!) but these clothes are so gorgeous and light... it's raining here in Perth so I think that I may have a case of Spring lust!
I really, really, REALLY want one of those sequinned maxi skirts. It is heaven in skirt form. I hope that some of the chain stores do a really cheap knockoff (that's probably bad to wish for... but this is how much I want the skirt!). In the second picture, I love how the colours go together, it makes me think of vanilla icecream. And the dress in the third picture is gorgeous, it just looks like a big flower! Oh Spring, where are you? :(
More sequins? Is it a top and skirt or a dress I DON'T CARE IT IS SHINY SO I LOVE IT. Now that I have calmed down and aren't as distracted by shiny things, I think that it is a skirt. I love the whole look in the second picture, it is a bit more casual than the other looks but no less fabulous. Those pants are awesome. I only included the third picture because the model looks like or is Chanel Iman, and I love her. (The dress is OK too).
OK, there are A LOT of one shoulder dresses in this collection. I like the look of them but I can never pull them off as they make me look like I have one boob near my ear and one around my midriff. But I do die a little bit inside for this dress, it is beautiful! The second dress perplexes me, I think it is interesting and kind of Russian-princess but I'm not sure if I like how the material puffs out around the knees and hips - it would be extremely unflattering on us mere individuals who are not supermodels! And my heart aches for that last dress, I think it is adorable!
And here I am playing dress-ups in my best adorable-wishing-for-Spring-frou-frou dress...
Dress: a shop in Brisbane that I can't remember the name of!//Shoes: Isabella Brown

What I Wore 10.9.08

What I Wore 10.9.08

Handing in my first article for my journalism course which actually has a chance of getting published in a newspaper! I am quite nervous! Eeeeee! It is about how music festivals are including homeopathic first aid stalls as well as conventional medical help, and it was actually pretty interesting to research.

Skirt: Target//Cardigan: Red Cherry//Shirt: Sex Pistols (not sure of the brand!)//Tights: Equip//Shoes: Emporium//Earrings: Jay Jays

Boy & I went to see Bill Bailey last night, it was hilarious! We've been to a few stand-up gigs this year but I think that he was the best. It was a bit surreal watching him walk onstage because I just thought "Oh my god that's Manny!" (I am obsessed with Black Books). I thought the view would be crappy because we were in row Z but it was actually pretty good. So Bill Bailey gets the Gin in a Teacup seal of approval & devotion!
