I LOVED this outfit from Heidy. It goes to show that you can still get great evening looks from op-shops!

Shell found this beautiful red velvet dress and I love how she styled it!

I loved this ladylike look from Sass & Spice - and everything in the outfit is op-shopped except for the bag!

This leather shorts DIY from T is amazing, and this one on how to make a Magdelena Valevska-inspired skirt is even better! These girls are killing it with their DIYs!

Lisa's awesomely radical '80s style outfit was one of the best outfits of the week.

Ally's outfits are always gorgeous but I particularly loved this sweet cardigan and skirt combo!

L also posted an awesome velvet piece this week. I love how the two velvet pieces in this week's round-up are styled so differently! Or maybe I just really love velvet. I have a velvet piece to style up this week and this wonderful ladies have given me plenty of ideas!

Hello! I'm writing this post in my hotel room with Aidan's new iPad, so please forgive any mistakes, it's still all a bit new to me! We're here on our anniversary and just had a ridiculously amazing dinner at Modo Mio. I had mince and ricotta pansotti with Gorgonzola and walnut sauce, and the most perfect panna cotta with balsamic strawberries for dessert. DELICIOUS! Now we're about to watch some movies - Wanderlust and The Hunger Games are top of my list!

Anyway, obviously I wouldn't normally be posting, but 'tis the rules of Restyle! So I'll just quickly show you this beautiful dress...

I'm not really a massive fan of the Olympics, to be honest. I mean, this year I've watched more than I probably ever have before (and so got to see some incredible moments like this!), but generally I am not into sports. At all.

But aside from the crappy Channel 9 coverage and their commentators' stupid questions like "Was it disappointing to get the silver?" (uh, it's a silver. IN THE OLYMPICS. Is it disappointing to be such a terrible television station?), I do love the camaraderie that happens during the Olympics. I may not be that into sports but I will still be as smug about Australia's gold medals as if I'd earned them myself.

So I thought it was appropriate to wear my sports-photo skirt while the Olympics is still going.

I'm not sure if this belt is genuine Lacoste or not - there's a close-up of the little crocodile in my first Restyle post - but it would be pretty awesome if it was, right? I didn't even notice the crocodile when I was trying it on... in fact I thought it was a mark on the leather. I GUESS WE WILL NEVER KNOW.

So, what are your plans for the weekend? Aidan and I are staying at the Crown Hotel for our one year anniversary. Would it be wrong to admit that I'm most looking forward to the fancy dinner at Modo Mio and the all-you-can-eat brunch buffet the next day? And the whole anniversary aspect... of course. And I'll still be updating my Restyle outfits! Lucky I have a boyfriend who puts up with taking my outfit photos and waiting around while I fool around on my laptop ♥

Hey again! First things first, you might have noticed the blog has had a bit of a makeover! After five years, I thought it was time to stop using free templates and actually get it properly designed. I will go into more detail in a future post, but let me know what you think!

I found this top the other day and just grabbed it on my way to the counter, without trying it on. It said it was a size 12 (my usual size) so I thought it would be fine... but no. It is maybe a size 12 for someone who has no boobs. But I really wanted to wear it for at least one outfit, so I ended up just cutting around the armholes to make them bigger and leaving it partway unzipped up the back. Fashion blogging is so glamorous sometimes.

I think it might have actually been part of a formal (prom) dress - it's from this label. But unless I find some clever way to DIY it, it might languish in my wardrobe for a while after today. All I can think of to adjust it is making the back into more a corset, which, well, no. I will not be doing that.


Despite the ill-fitting top, I really loved this outfit! I'd had it planned since Monday (when I got the top) to wear to Home Is Where My Heart Is, so maybe that's why I went to great lengths to make the top work instead of just wearing another outfit. I have bought a few more op-shop goodies this week, so I'm really excited to wear some of those pieces next week (and yes, I have tried all those ones on and they all fit!).

The ring is the first piece of jewellery I've bought from an op-shop! Unless you count the time I bought a necklace with those little bubble letters spelling out 'Leo DiCaprio'. Man I wish I still had that.

In other news, I have had the worst shoulder pain in the last few days! I've done a quick Google for remedies but do you guys have any suggestions? There's only so many stretches I can do at work without people thinking I'm having some kind of fit.

Hello again! So first things first, let me tell you about this awesome monkey cardigan (which sadly isn't op-shopped). I found it in a pop-up vintage store on William St and I couldn't resist trying it on, even though I'm not a huge fan of short-sleeved cardigans (I can just never figure out where you're meant to wear them. As a cover-up when it's still pretty warm outside? When it's cold but you want to show off your elbows?). But I couldn't go past this one - it has  MONKEYS on it, AND banana buttons. And it was on sale too!


I wore it with the op-shop skirt from a few posts ago and I think it looks okay. Usually I wear it with a fuller skirt but I haven't found any so far on my op-shop travels...

Tomorrow night I'm going to an exhibit that some friends of mine helped out with, called Home Is Where My Heart Is. The program pairs local photographers with young homeless people, who then take a photo of what they interpret as 'home'. It's a really great exhibition and all the funds raised go towards helping the homeless in Perth, so if you get a chance to check it out please do!

OH MY GOD, YOU GUYS. I have had the craziest day ever. On my way to work this morning there was this little cat on the road (in peak hour traffic!) and so I went to pick it up and when I put it down I think that its back legs were broken :( and my heart ached, it was so sad! So I called the RSPCA, went back to my house to get a taxi since I'd missed the bus, got stuck in traffic and so hopped off and started walking, and then an old man slipped over walking across the road! Luckily he was okay but it was a lot of drama before midday!

Anyway. So this is my op-shop outfit for today. I really wanted to wear this George Gross jacket I found... I didn't really take into account the fact that it still had massive shoulder pads in! Oh well. A bit of '80s throwback never hurt nobody.





I just did a little research on George Gross and I feel pretty lucky scoring this blazer for $10! I'd never heard of the label before but the jacket seems really well made and really nicely tailored. Once I take the shoulder pads out I think it will make a very nice addition to my everyday wardrobe!


Well I am all drama-d out for the day... but I do have a Groupon review coming up shortly so keep your eyes out for that!

I think I mentioned last time I wore this blouse that I get an Indiana Jones vibe from it (hence this post title, which is my favourite Indy film). I wish I had found this blouse while I was still doing anthropology, it would have been such a perfect fit! It's one of my favourite op-shop finds ever - and it was found in the men's section too, for some reason. No idea which gender this shirt is actually made for but I love it.

This isn't the most original of outfits, but I felt so comfortable in it! It might be one of my favourite outfits of Restyle so far. I feel like it sums up my style pretty well (defined waist + novelty print + hint of dorkiness + weird jewellery).





It was a bit awkward taking these photos with plumbers working on a house across the road! To be honest, if I saw a girl taking photos of herself in her front garden I'd probably be a bit 'WTF' as well...
